The 35th Annual Clyde Lamar’s “Gold Cup” Golf Classic
The Tournament History
Going back to the days when World of Outlaw drivers such as Steve Kinser and Sammy Swindell were among the headliners of the Gold Cup, the Clyde Lamar Golf Tournament has been a major part of this special racing weekend at Silver Dollar Speedway. For 34 years, organizing and hosting this tournament was a heart-felt passion for Clyde.
Another grand passion of Clyde Lamar was to create a motorsports museum to celebrate the racing history of Northern California. To that end, Clyde was a strong supporter and a Director of Northern California Auto Racing, a non-profit organization formed to raise funds for a museum to showcase the extraordinary racing history of Northern California, fulfilling a dream we believe is shared by many people in every form of racing.
Last year, as race weekend grew near, Clyde asked NCAR to pick up where he left off and take on the responsibility of putting on the Gold Cup golf tournament. We were delighted to continue his golf tournament tradition and appreciate the opportunity to do that again this year.
Of course, the biggest reason the Gold Cup tournament tradition has continued for three and one-half decades is the dedication of all the sponsors who shared Clyde's love for golf and sprint car racing. We thank you all--sponsors and volunteers alike-- for supporting the GoldCup golf tournament over the years.
We look forward to doing our best to ensure that this year's Gold Cup Golf Classic is a fun-filled day for everyone. Clyde wouldn't want it any other way.
