Hello fellow auto racing enthusiasts,
I am W.C. "LEW" LEWIS. Some of you may remember me from the West Capital Raceway Alumni Association. I along with four other racing enthusiasts, namely Brenda Anderson, E.J. Dolner, Jim Allen and Guy Weybright formed WCRA in 1998 to preserve the memories we all have of our local track, West Capital Raceway. Sadly WCRA had to cease operations in 2019 due to circumstances beyond our control. Northern California Auto Racing, Inc., was formed shortly before WCRA went out of business with the goal of establishing a racing museum to showcase the history of ALL auto racing in Northern California. This proposed museum will feature cars, artifacts and memorabilia from all forms of racing. Drag racing, Stock cars, Sprint cars, Super Modified's, Midgets, Indy cars, open wheel cars, asphalt tracks, dirt tracks, sports cars and even slot cars.
The Sacramento area along with the greater Northern California area is rich with auto racing history! Did you know the first organized Midget car race in the nation was held in Sacramento? It was at Sacramento Junior College, Hughes Stadium, then called Sacramento Stadium, on June 3rd, 1933. (This information is from Tom Motter's great book, Sacramento Dirt Capital of the West). Northern California was
home to many, many tracks, drag strips and road courses over the years. Wouldn't it be wonderful to share the racing history of Sacramento and all of Northern California with the rest of the world.
Northern California Auto Racing, Inc., (NCAR) hosted several successful fund raising dinners in the past but in light of the Covid-19 Pandemic those fundraisers are currently on hold, however to meet our goals we must continue fundraising efforts.
Please join me and many of your friends and contribute to this very worthwhile effort. Please use the contact information flyers mailed out or the the website you are reading this on to connect with NCAR. Together we can make this dream a reality. You can also mail your contribution payable to: NCAR - P. O. BOX 41284 - SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA 95841
